Located on the Normandy coast, Omaha Beach was one of the five landing zones of the Allied invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944. This is where American troops faced fierce resistance in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II. Just above the cliffs is the Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery, where nearly 9,400 American servicemen are buried.
